Our homes need some accents to create a stylish edge to it. This is even more important when we celebrate a season, anniversary, or any happy event. Garland is one decorative item that any house should have. During Christmas season, we see it as a staple holiday décor along with lights to make the whole house even more festive-looking. Decorative tips on how to use them are abundant online during this season. However, most people are still having difficulty understanding the different types of garlands and how to use them properly.
There are four common types of garland. They are the fresh cut, artificial, designer and commercial. Fresh garlands are those that are made from real tree and they are often used for outdoor accents. If you were able to get great fresh pieces then it would be the best type of garland. The faint delightful smell of fresh cut leaves add to its natural beauty. However, if they are not available, the artificial ones can be a great alternative. This is most convenient since you need worry about natural needles so they can be used inside or outside the house. The best thing about artificial garlands is that they can use repeatedly every season.
Designer garland on the other hand are unique pre-designed garlands made out of non-traditional materials such as glass, acrylic, feathers and with bright colored needles. Most people go for this type as they are already styled and the only thing you need is to string them inside or outside your house. If you need garlands to put on a large space, a commercial garland is what you will need. It would be awesome if you will get fresh garlands for it. Nothing beats having it all natural. However, it is hard to get them unless you are willing to spare some money for it. Most people prefer using commercial type as they are not only convenient to use but they are the most durable among all types of garlands.
One important decorating tip that you must remember is that you need to get invisible-looking small holding devices to make your installation easier to do. Although, there are plenty of holders with uniquely designs that can blend well with the garland and can be part of the décor as well. Also choose a holder that is tough and strong so there will be no chance of it going down after some time. If you are budget conscious, it is practical to get the artificial ones as they can be used repeatedly as long as you properly care for them. Store them in a plastic container and shut the lid tightly so that it will not accumulate dust when you use it again.
Do not make the mistake of trying to squeeze a large wreath to a smaller container where you cannot properly put down the cover. It will not only damage the design and form but bugs and insects might be able to freely reside on it. Lastly, if you are to use fresh garlands, make sure you do not install them somewhere near any source of heat, as it would lose the needles and wither quickly.
